Collocations

I've just learned about Mark Davies' website, an amazing online collocations resource. After playing with the site for 5 minutes you should be able to work out how to use it. There is an immense amount of information available to you via a very versatile search engine...and you can even limit your searches to academic English. My previous favourite online collocations site, the Collins website also provides free online samples of its corpus here. For those moments when you don't have internet access, The Oxford Collocations Dictionary is still a wonderful resource, and is worth buying if you are at all interested in improving your English.
